Centered Riding Clinic

The Open Centered Riding Clinics are the best way to introduce Centered Riding concepts to

students. Most stables start with an open clinic, which is structured for all levels of riders,

regardless of the riding discipline. These two- or three-day clinics introduce basic centering

techniques and apply them to riding. They focus on the four basics of Centered Riding, teach

grounding exercises, and relate human anatomy and movement to the horse's anatomy and

movement. Centered Riding answers the question of “how” to do what instructors ask their

students to do. The clinic consists of unmounted ground exercises each day as well as

mounted group lessons with no more than three per group. These clinics focus on individual

riding problems and stress, relaxation and balancing techniques. The use of hands-on body

work and ground exercises develop an understanding between the instructor and student in

a non-threatening environment. Unlocking a body helps unlock emotions which very often

are the cause of problems in riding.
