Novice Rider
The Novice Rider is now learning to apply the skills learning in the Beginner Rider and Advanced Beginner rider program to a more refined and skilled way of riding. Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country riding are covered as a Novice Rider.

Can complete 15 and 20 meter circles at the trot and canter.

Can trot and canter without stirrups.

Can hold proper leg position at all gaits.

Correctly use inside leg and outside rein to achieve connection.

Can ride safely in the open at the walk trot and canter up and down hills.

Understand the different use of bits.

Feel diagonals and leads correctly without looking.

Jumping a course of at lease 8 jumps a minimum of 2' both in the arena and on the cross country course at trot and canter.

Properly and safely lunge a horse at the walk trot and canter.

Can identify minor injuries including a lame or unsound horse.
